How to reach the race venue?

To make it easier for athletes to reach the event and to reduce traffic on the Sirmione peninsula, the Municipality has put in place several helpful solutions. Here are all the recommended options to get to the race area easily and efficiently.

Paid Parking on the Peninsula

Due to Sirmione’s unique geographic layout, car access near the historic center can be challenging, especially during peak hours. Most parking areas close to the center are paid and often full.

To avoid complications, it’s best to arrive before 9:00 AM and park in the outer areas of the peninsula, then use public transport to reach the historic center.

Several free parking spots are available near the shuttle stop in Via Salvo D’Acquisto, offering easy access to the shuttle service.

🚌 Free Shuttle Service for Athletes

During race weekend, a free shuttle service will be available to all athletes, provided by Arriva.
To use the service, simply show your registration confirmation.

👥 For Companions
The service is also available to companions at the following fares:

  • €2.00 if purchased from ticket machines

  • €2.50 if purchased on board

🕐 Shuttle Operating Hours

  • Saturday: from 10:00 AM to 12:40 AM

  • Sunday: service running exceptionally for SWIMTHEISLAND athletes, from 8:30 AM to 12:40 AM

🚤 A Scenic Alternative: Ferry from Desenzano to Sirmione

For those who prefer to avoid driving altogether, the Navigarda ferry offers a scenic and relaxing journey from Desenzano del Garda to Sirmione, arriving just steps from the Spiaggia delle Muse, the race venue.

🔹 Daily service from May 17 to October 5, 2025, with departures every 30–60 minutes, depending on the time of day
🔹 The crossing takes approximately 20 minutes
🔹 Departures from Piazza Giacomo Matteotti (Desenzano), arrival in Piazza Giosuè Carducci (Sirmione)

🎫 Tickets can be purchased:

  • at the port ticket offices

  • directly on board (arriving at least 20 minutes before departure is recommended)

📌 The ferry is a great alternative for those staying in Desenzano or arriving by train. Daily hop-on/hop-off passes are also available to explore the lake.
